As a mother of a bilingual child with ASD/ADHD, Sonja Fritzsche is most interested in research related to autism and family, cultural, & societal issues, including parent support, managing a career while parenting a neurodiverse child, multilingualism and ASD, and the intersections of ASD with ADHD. She began her position as Associate Dean in the College of Arts & Letters in August 2017. She served as Chair of the Department of Linguistics & Germanic, Slavic, Asian and African languages from 2015-2017, where she is also Professor of German with research on 20th/21st century popular culture.
