S. Alexandra Burt (Alex), professor, Department of Psychology, is a clinical psychologist and behavioral geneticist. Her research interests focus on the roles of genetic expression, environments, and gene-environment interplay in child and adolescent psychopathology. Since earning her doctorate from the University of Minnesota in 2004, she has published more than 100 scientific papers, has been awarded several federal grants, and has won two Early Career Awards.

She is currently conducting twin studies of gene-environment interplay in childhood conduct problems, and also co-directs (with Kelly Klump) the Michigan State University Twin Registry, a large-scale registry of twins
