Brown Bag: "Access to Inclusive Education for Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Ghana"

About the presenter: Dr. Okyere received her PhD in Rehabilitation Science from Queen’s University in Canada. Her research interests center around effective instructional strategies for students with disabilities. Her research focuses on understanding barriers to educational inclusion for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and explores how to promote educational and employment outcomes and quality of life for them and their families and caregivers. Dr. Okyere’s presentation will examine the experiences of implementation of inclusive education from the perspectives of children with IDD and their teachers in Accra, Ghana. She will also discuss the scope of current literature on inclusive education implementation with children with IDD in African countries.
