Parent Training Research Study

Parent Training Research Study

Mothers and children are needed for a study testing a brief parenting intervention to help parents interact positively with their children and address mild behavior concerns.

Who: Mothers and their children ages 3-5 who show behaviors such as non-compliance, defiance, and hyperactivity, but who do not have diagnoses of ADHD, Autism, or Oppositional Defiance Disorder.

What: Mothers and children will be asked to participate in weekly, 1-hour interactive sessions in which they will receive coaching and feedback on positive parenting techniques. Mothers will also be asked to complete daily 5-minute homework exercises, and fill out weekly child behavior rating scales.

When: Sessions will be scheduled based on family availability and held on MSU’s campus. Sessions will last one hour and will occur over the course of about 6-15 weeks.

Families will receive $100 for participation in the study.
