The MSU Approach to Research in Autism, Intellectual and other Neurodevelopmental Disabilities

The Research in Autism, Intellectual and other Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (RAIND) Initiative was created in response to MSU’s work as a founding partner in the DOCTRID (Daughters of Charity Research into Disability) Research Institute on autism and intellectual disability. Active members include a coalition of 14 Irish universities, MSU, UMass Medical School, Designability Bath Institute of Medical Engineering, and the Daughters of Charity Service in Dublin Ireland.

The RAIND Initiative includes two centers:

  • Center on Epidemiology, Diagnosis and Assessment
  • Center on Evidence-Based Interventions Across the Life Span

RAIND has an internal seed grant program to stimulate multidisciplinary projects across MSU colleges. The program also funds a seminar series that provides ongoing professional development opportunities for more than 70 faculty and numerous post-doctoral researchers associated with RAIND.
